Smoke alert FAQ
What do I actually get?
One email when the forecast for a location you chose crosses the AQI threshold you set, and a weekly recap. We do not email you on clean-air days, and we do not email you twice for the same event.
How quickly does an alert arrive?
Alerts are driven by the daily AirNow forecast, so a threshold crossing is normally in your inbox the morning of. This is a planning tool rather than an emergency notification — for an immediate warning, follow your local emergency management agency and the National Weather Service.
Do I have to confirm my address?
Yes. Signup is double opt-in: you are not subscribed until you click the link in the confirmation email. If you never click it, the pending record is discarded rather than kept.
How do I stop the emails?
Every alert carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Using it deletes your address and your saved locations — there is no separate deletion request to make and nothing is retained.
Will my address be sold or shared?
No. It is stored so we can send the alerts you asked for, and it is processed by Resend, our email provider, on our behalf. It is not sold, rented or used for anything else — see our privacy policy.
