The map is still being built

There is no interactive map on this page yet. We'd rather show you nothing than a map that puts a plume in the wrong place, so this stays empty until the layers are wired to live data and checked against the sources below.

When it launches it will carry three layers:

• Smoke plumes — NOAA HMS smoke analysis polygons, shaded by density (light / medium / heavy).
• Active fires — NASA FIRMS VIIRS 375 m active-fire detections, clustered so a single large incident reads as one fire rather than a hundred pixels.
• Station AQI — current readings from AirNow and OpenAQ monitors, on the 2024 EPA scale, each with its monitor and observation time.
